Carla Gomes was born in Azores islands in 1978. She worked for seven years as a journalist, mainly in environment area. She wrote for specialized newspapers, as well as Quercus Ambiente and Água & Ambiente, and participated in editorial projects as Green China, an international publication on sustainable development in China.
She is also co-author of the book “Quercus: 20 Anos” on the history of the main Portuguese environment NGO. Afterwards she worked as a communication officer for the Commission for Coordination and Regional Development of Lisbon and Tagus Valley (Environment Ministry).
Carla Gomes is graduated (five-year degree) in Social Communication/Journalism (Setúbal Polytechnic Institute) and a Master in Environmental Management and Policies (Aveiro University). Her final dissertation, on Climate Change, Clean Development and Portuguese-speaking African Countries, resulted in the book “Climate Change and Clean Development”, which was awarded by Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Gulbenkian Ambiente Program) and was released in January 2010.
She started collaborating with “Change” project in ICS in May 2010, as a fellowship researcher.
